Informatics at Illinois spans multiple disciplines and reaches out into the community — offering venues and resources and programs to allow artists to collaborate with social scientists, and humanists with engineers; and promotes innovation and learning across the “digital divide”.

C-U Community Fab Lab

The Fab Lab is an open and collaborative workshop space for computer-driven innovation, design and fabrication.

We enable makers of all kinds to imagine, design and create using open source software and DIWO (do it with others!) methodologies.

Electronic Literatures and Literacies Lab (EL3)

EL3 is a cross-campus community which brings together writers, artists, game designers, programmers, and interdisciplinary researchers to foster collaboration in the digital humanities. On-going projects range from interactive digital narratives to immersive simulations, to socially transformative games.
