Chang Liu

Chang Liu uses interdisciplinary approaches to study sociotechnical issues concerning labor and digital economy, with a focus on social justice. He is completing his dissertation, which, based on an ethnography of Chinese manufacturing and ICT-driven economic reform, explores the gap between technological imagination and the reality of production work, sociotechnical systems that enroll marginalized laborers to fuel economic growth, and consequences for the local community and economy. Chang holds a B.Eng. in Architecture and a M.Eng. in Systems Innovation from the University of Tokyo.
